PERSONALIZED PROGRAMMING
Mrs Levitan creates a program suitable for each individual student. The foundation of all programs will include theory, technique, ear training & composition. Students have the option of preparing for formal piano examinations through the Royal Conservatory of Music or Conservatory Canada.
PRACTICE TIME
Lesson progress and improvement depends on consistent daily practice. Parents and students share the responsibility to ensure that good habits are developed and maintained. Key factors to a positive musical learning environment include:
* Properly tuned piano or touch-sensitive digital piano
* Adequate lighting
* Ergonomically correct bench
* Distraction-free practice area/time
* Parental supervision of students during practice sessions
Students should come to each lesson prepared to demonstrate improvement in each of the pieces which have been assigned.
Student are expected to create a habit of developing a musical routine a minimum of 5 days/week.
PARENT – TEACHER COMMUNICATION
Parents or music helpers are encouraged to sit in on all lessons at Deerpath Music Studio.
I require that parents sit in on at least 1 lesson per month or call me directly for a short debrief. It is important that all persons involved: student, parent & teacher have a clear understanding of the goals and achievements set out for the student.
I hope to make each student’s piano experience a very positive and productive one.
CANCELLATION OF LESSONS
Students often go through periods of hardship during piano lesson or practice time, and frustration is a common factor in a child’s development while struggling to learn new concepts and musical skills. Parents are encouraged to call me with any questions or concerns regarding any problems the student may have. However, if a parent or student chooses to discontinue lessons for any reason, one month’s fee will be retained.
